I learned a lot in that role. and I also burnt out in a pretty predictable way.
Millson + Main officially started in 2018, but the work started long before that. I completed ¾ of a Bachelor of Design at York/Sheridan, cut my teeth at a branding agency, worked in print shops, and eventually landed in-house as the sole designer for a home builder in Calgary — where I built 14 websites in 9 months, designed construction fence banners by the hundreds of metres, and yes, even a TV commercial.
So I went out on my own. Me, undiagnosed ADHD, and the kind of optimism you can only have in your twenties—ready to take on the world. I started building brands across industries — because I wanted the variety, the challenge, and the creative range that one company couldn't give me.
12+ years later, I've worked with businesses from early-stage ideas to brands you've probably seen on the shelves at Indigo and Well.ca. I helped turn a rapidly growing Instagram following into something profitable during lockdowns. And somewhere along the way, I stopped thinking of myself as a designer and started operating as what I actually am: a brand architect.
I help business owners untangle their brand, sharpen their message, and stop second-guessing how they show up.
I don't start with logos. I don't start with moodboards. I start with positioning — because if we don't know who you're for, what makes you different, and how you should be talking about it, the visuals are guesswork. And guesswork is expensive.
My studio is intentionally small. I take 8–10 transformation projects a year, and I work best with established, service-based businesses who aren't starting from zero — they're refining. Their business works. Their brand just hasn't caught up.
I'm based in Ontario, Canada, in the thick of my three-under-six season of life — which has deeply shaped how I run this studio: with clarity, momentum, and zero wasted steps.
I fall asleep on the couch most nights trying to watch one more episode. I send voice notes instead of texts. I have 15 tabs open right now and 834 notifications. My background noise is Epic Film Scores on Spotify, and my guilty pleasure is luxury real estate dramas. I'm a Blue Jays fan and a podcast junkie, and I will talk about both for too long if you let me.

Bouncing ideas back and forth with someone so creative and whose opinion you value so highly is honestly one of the greatest experiences as a small business owner.
